Amanda and Jim "tied the knot" (literally) on one of the hottest days of summer, July 14th, 2013. Earlier that morning, they both got ready at the Holiday Inn, in rooms that were located diagonally across from each other in the same hallway! Even though they were so close, they decided to keep with tradition and not actually see each other until the ceremony. And I am happy they did, because getting to capture the look on Jim's face when he saw Amanda walk down the aisle was just priceless. :) The most unique part of the ceremony was when they tied the "Lover's Knot" with a sturdy rope. I learned that this lover's knot is known as one of the simplest knots to tie, but it is also one of the strongest knots there is. If you try to pull it, It will not break, and only becomes stronger under pressure. The actual rope itself will break apart before the lover's knot would come undone. After hearing their friends and family speak of all that they have been through together over the past 8 years, it only seemed right that they tie this type of knot to symbolize the unbreakable bond between them. After the ceremony we had fun with the wedding party and photographers as Anna from Annabriggsphotography set up some creative photos along the golf course. As they were finishing up, we headed into the Villa to capture some of the reception decorations. There were so many fun details that Amanda and Jim had incorporated into their day, but one of my favorites was their family tree. Instead of using the typical guest signature book, they had all of their wedding guests "leaf" their names onto a family tree canvas by inking their thumbprint on a branch of the tree. Loved this!! The band Six Foot Sunday sang Hey Pretty Girl for Amanda and Jim's first dance. (click link to watch the short clip)They were phenomenal. As the night continued they did not disappoint. Whether it was rocking out to Motown Philly, or helping Jim perform his version of American Girl, these guys kept the party going all night long! The chance to get to know this sweet couple and their families was truly a gift- you can't help but smile when you see how happy they are together. We wish them nothing but the best today, and in all the years to come. :) |
